Bio

Every so often a musical group emerges that breaks the boundaries of its musical genre, inspires people with its words, and constantly redefines itself. For someone from the West, this is a statement that appears to be self-evident. When you come from Russia, born into a Soviet culture of artistic and cultural oppression, the concepts of change and redefinition are not only seldom encountered, but for those who dare to challenge the state of things, they were once fatal concepts.
When the SLoT formed on 2-2-2002, they sought to do precisely that: shatter the norms of Russian music and introduce a Western sound to Russia. They have reached the ceiling of their potential in their homeland. As the top alternative-rock / nu-metal act in all of the former Soviet Union, they have realized that the only way to truly share their music--their art--with the greater world abroad is to take the leap that only two artists from Russia (Gorky Park & t.A.T.u.) have ever achieved: they must sing in English, and do it better than any of their countrymen who have come before them.
The SLoT have received numerous industry awards including Hit of the Year in both 2006 (2 Wars) and 2007 (They Killed Kenny), Vocal Performance of the Year in 2005, and NewsMusic.ru 2007 Rock Album of the Year Award.
Their music has appeared on the score and/or soundtrack of a dozen major Russian movies including such international hits as “Daywatch”, “Nightwatch”, and Boomer.
On October 3rd, 2010 they performed with Limp Bizkit at Moscow’s Olympic Arena, and previously with KORN on their Russian tour in 2006 where front man Jonathan Davis said, “here is the Russian hybrid of Linkin Park and Evanescence”. Having received over 5 million hits on YouTube, the SLoT are far from unknown in the Western world. Their “Mirrors” and “Lego” music videos are presented in both their native language as well as English.
Beginning in May of 2011, the SLoT will tour all across Europe and South Africa with P.O.D.
