WinStar World Casino and Resort, Riverstar Casino and all other gaming facilities owned by the Chickasaw Nation will open at 25% of capacity next week and guests will be required to wear a face covering.

In a release on Friday, Chickasaw Gov. Bill Anoatubby announced all Chickasaw Nation casinos would open on Wednesday at 8 a.m. at reduced capacity and guests and employees will be required to wear protective face coverings at all times.

Anoatubby states in the release that the casinos will adhere to social distance guidelines and strict sanitation policies, closing every day from 4 a.m. to 8 a.m. to clean and disinfect, to help limit the spread of COVID-19.

The release also stated that casino personnel will check the temperatures of all patrons entering each facility and will deny entry to those with a confirmed temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher.

“We have a responsibility to ensure our facilities remain safe places for our employees and patrons as we reopen,” Anoatubby said. “Therefore, our leadership team has developed a comprehensive plan with numerous levels of protection in place to protect the health of our employees and patrons.

“We continue closely monitoring the data and consulting health professionals in an effort to maintain the most effective containment measures available and minimize any possibility of resurgence.”

Anoatubby said preparations for reopening began weeks ago and include employee testing, alterations to facilities and employee training to ensure enhanced disinfecting protocols and safety procedures are implemented effectively.

Table games, off-track betting, poker, bingo, entertainment options, WinStar Convention Center and other amenities will remain closed during Phase One of the reopening, according to the release.

Texans: If you feel like gambling, don’t plan to head to WinStar Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma.

If you do, you’ll just find it closed.

The casino announced that it will close at midnight Monday until March 31.

But the WinStar World Casino Hotel will remain open, according to an online statement.

“While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) at WinStar World Casino and Resort, we have determined it is in the best interest of our patrons and employees to temporarily close the casino, all retail stores and all casino restaurants ... to slow the transmission of this virus,” according to a statement posted online Monday afternoon.

Casino officials said Fun Town RV Park at WinStar, WinStar Golf Club and WinStar Golf Academy will stay open. And they said the Legends Bar and Grill will stay open, but service will be limited to 50 guests at a time.

“Thank you very much for your loyalty and your understanding as we navigate this difficult time,” the casino posted.

WinStar already postponed several concerts and performances, including Brad Paisley until Aug. 29 and Adam Sandler to a date yet to be determined.

This comes after several casinos in Las Vegas temporarily closed their doors, also to try to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

Choctaw Casinos & Resorts in Oklahoma, meanwhile, rescheduled a Carrie Underwood concert for Sept. 11 but, as of Monday afternoon, was keeping the casino open, according to a message posted online.
